The Songsters

Images of birds have been steady in my work for most of my career.  My birds have evolved through the years from once traditional to now an amalgamation of part bird, part human and part musical instrument.

I listen to birds intently.  Their many different songs; how they whistle and ping, chatter and tic tic tic, call and cwash cwa cwa.

My songster birds are a metaphor of bird and musical instruments meant to bring to mind the song, the sounds, the textures your ear can play with when listening.  Alerting your listening awareness, whether listening to the music of birds or listening to the music of instruments played, opens an amazing audible world waiting to be heard.
